A portrait of the well-known 80 year-old Dutch
composer and church musician Willem Vogel.Since the 1950's he
was involved with the renewal of the liturgy in Christian as
well as Roman-Catholic public worship. He is considered the
Nestor of Dutch churchmusic, also abroad he is regarded an
important church musician.
The title of this documentary was taken from
one of his compositions: hymn 301, that has become widely
known.The cause and inspirations that define the work and life
of Willem Vogel are paramount in this documentary. It also gives
a brief illustration of the development of churchmusic in
Holland since the Second World War.
This documentary shows the active life of
Willem Vogel: He composes every day, teaches organists leads the
annual manifestation "Haarlem sings" in the St.
Bavochurch.
