De
Grebbeberg (Battle at the Grebbe line)
screenplay by
Elena van Eeden
and Martin Lagestee
Battle at the Grebbe line tells the true story of a group of
soldiers, who fought a heroic battle against the Germans at the
beginning of World War II.
Though heavily outnumbered, hundreds of badly trained and
inexperienced Dutch troups managed to hold up the German enemy
at the Grebbe defence line for three days.
It will be the first film about these first days of World War II
that took place here. One of the most bloodstained battle scenes
of the Blitzkrieg in Western Europe, and the most dramatic and
horrific battle on Dutch soil: fought on what the Germans named
‘Devils Mountain’.
A chapter in Dutch history worth preserving both as a tribute to
those who died and as a lesson for future generations.
